Ronnie Lane one of the best and under appreciated musicians in rock and roll history . Wrote some great tunes , was a great band mate , had great voice but was playing with lead singers Merritt and Stewart so his voice was in harmonies, rod stewart initially didn’t like the ooh la la song and Ron wood sang it on the Faces album. When Stewart went solo , he had changed his mind and it is now one of his standards and pays tribute to Ronnie lane for it.

I love that Jim actually admitted that they were sometimes singing “Freak out in the darkness” about tripping. Give it a closer listen.

Great performance of, imo, the best song of 1978. It evokes the late 70s perfectly, yet still sounds fresh today.
